Peripheral Artery Disease

چکیده
749 Endovascular therapy to relieve intermittent claudication or critical limb ischemia in patients with lowerextremity peripheral artery disease is now firmly established as an alternative to surgical revascularization. The advent of novel technologies allows percutaneous interventions of increasingly complex arterial disease previously reserved for surgical interventions. Although the durability of aortoiliac interventions rivals that of surgical bypass, restenosis after femoropopliteal interventions remains the Achilles’ heel of endovascular therapies. Despite the growth of endovascular procedures, the optimal postprocedural care is not well established. Moreover, it is not clear how surveillance strategies influence health resource use and whether they can prolong the durability of vascular interventions and affect the patient’s cardiovascular health. The following recommendations are therefore extrapolated from clinical experience gained in medical and surgical management of patients with peripheral artery disease and patients undergoing percutaneous coronary interventions. In the absence of data derived from randomized, controlled trials, these recommendations necessarily reflect an interpretation of “best clinical practice” of an understudied clinical area. In this article, we attempt to outline a clinically sound strategy for long-term postprocedural care.

Peripheral Eosinophilia and History of Allergy in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease
Background: Coronary artery diseases (CAD) is the most common cause of death in the developing counteries. Atherosclerosis is the leading cause of CAD. A number of studies have shown that total leukocyte count is a risk factor for CAD but there is little information on the role of eosinophilia and allergy. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between eosinophilia and histor...
متن کاملOral Health and Coronary Artery Disease, A Review Article
Atherosclerosis is the most common cause of myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke. Various risk factors have been identified for atherosclerosis. Recently, bacterial and viral organisms, which are involved in chronic inflammatory processes, have been also implicated in atherosclerosis development. Individuals with a prior history of periodontal diseases and/or tooth loss are considered to be...
متن کاملEvaluation of Extracellular Circulating Human MicroRNA-197 as a Target Biomarker in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease
Background: Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) refers to the reduction or blockage of all or part of the coronary arteries due to the process of atherosclerosis or the presence of a clot. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of serum miR-197 as a diagnostic index in patients with coronary artery disease. Methods: In this study, 100 patients with CAD were selected. Extraction of...

Background & Aims: Recent studies have shown that some of the MEFV gene mutations are common in patients with coronary artery disease. The present study was designed to investigate the presence or absence of E148Q mutation in exon 2 of MEFV gene in patients with premature coronary artery disease. Materials & Methods: In this study, 90 patients with coronary artery disease were voluntarily sele...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling of Two-Layered Micropolar Fluid Through an Normal and Stenosed Artery
In the present work a two fluid model for blood flow through abnormally constrictedhuman artery (stenosed artery) has been developed. The model consists of a core region of suspensionof all erythrocytes assumed to be micro-polar fluid so as to include the micro-structural effects inaddition to the peripheral-layer viscosity effects, and a peripheral plasma layer free from cells of anykind of Ne...
متن کاملA preliminary study of the association between the ABCA1 gene promoter DNA methylation and coronary artery disease risk
Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a common health problem in Iranian population. ATP binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) plays central role in the efflux of the cholesterol from peripheral tissues back to liver. Inactivation of ABCA1 by epigenetic change such as DNA methylation may contribute to the development of CAD. The present study investigated the association between promoter DNA methy...
